The story
"A group of young people with old souls." That is how the team behind Omakase RI describes themselves. They are passionate about serving traditional Edomae sushi — the old-school Tokyo style where fish is marinated, aged, or cured to deepen flavor — but they do it on their own terms. Expect sake, visible tattoos, hip hop playing loud, and a refusal to take themselves too seriously. The dining room holds just ten seats, making each evening an intimate, unfiltered conversation between chef and guest.
There is no à la carte here. Omakase RI offers a multi-course tasting menu that follows the Edomae tradition, course by deliberate course. The team makes a point of not working with salmon, staying true to the classic repertoire. Guests are asked to skip strong perfumes and to arrive on time for the two-hour journey. There is no vegetarian or vegan option — this is a restaurant devoted to fish, rice, and the precision of Japanese technique.
In 2026 the Michelin guide highlighted Omakase RI as a Recommended restaurant, a nod to the seriousness beneath the playful atmosphere. The counter is the heart of the space: you watch the chefs slice, press, and glaze each piece, while the music and conversation keep the mood anything but stiff. It is a rare combination — deep respect for tradition and a stubborn insistence on having fun.
