The story
Pedro Lemos is not just one of Portugal's most respected chefs; he is a philosopher of taste. Born in Porto and deeply rooted in the northern traditions of sea and mountain, he transforms the simplicity of local ingredients into experiences that transcend time. His cooking is the consolidation of a distinct gastronomic language, where the chef, the musician, the artisan and the creative coexist. This approach has earned him a Michelin star, a recognition of his unwavering commitment to "flavour above all."
Lemos’s path was not a straight line. He traded engineering for the kitchen, drawn by the unmistakable pull of the flavours that marked his childhood—the memory of cooking that perfumed his home, time spent in the countryside and in his grandmothers’ kitchens. He passed through demanding kitchens, absorbed the rigour of austere mentors, and faced challenges that shaped his precise and creative approach. Today, with a Michelin star and a renewed restaurant on Rua do Ouro, he looks back with pride, but knows the journey is not over. It is this incessant search for authenticity, this creative restlessness, that keeps him in constant evolution.
In 2024, the restaurant was reborn. After meticulous and complex renovation work, it moved to Rua do Ouro, occupying a historic building that Pedro and Joana transformed into a reflection of their vision: a space where beauty and elegance merge with Pedro's culinary philosophy. Every material was chosen with intent, every piece of art placed with purpose, creating an environment that is itself an extension of the kitchen. This new stage is a symbol of renewal, where the historic building dialogues with the modernity of the cuisine, creating a perfect balance between past and future.
For Pedro Lemos, cooking is not about fireworks or extravagant techniques. It is about flavour. Deep, intense flavour that surprises and moves. His broths and sauces are the foundation of a kitchen that seeks to extract the maximum from each ingredient, respecting its essence. Each dish is a lesson in freedom and balance, between extracting the purest essence of the ingredient and the creative impulse. His approach is meticulous, but never cold—each plate an expression of passion, a combination of technique and intuition firmly anchored in the clarity of his philosophy.
The restaurant offers a range of experiences, from a four-moment à la carte menu to a full tasting menu, with optional wine pairings that elevate each moment. A vegetarian menu is also available. During dinner service, the focus is on a tasting menu-only experience, inviting guests on a complete sensory journey through this contemporary Portuguese cuisine.
