The story
Located on the ground floor of the Hilton Riyadh Hotel & Residences, Mayrig presents a focused approach to Armenian cooking. The Armenian kitchen prioritizes precision while keeping portions generously sized. Every plate follows a clear philosophy that favors honest ingredients over theatrical presentation. This commitment to straightforward excellence recently earned the venue an eleven rating from Gault&Millau.
The menu opens with a simple tomato and cheese amuse-bouche before moving into carefully layered staples like mante and dolma. Charcoal grills and a slow-cooked lamb shank provide hearty centerpieces, while soujouk arrives bubbling inside clay pots alongside freshly puffed flatbread. Each dish reflects a preference for honest execution and generous portion sizes.
Patterned floor tiles and subtle gold detailing immediately define the dining room layout. A circular bar anchors one side of the space while a visible open kitchen keeps the evening active. Overhead lanterns cast a warm glow across tables set for sharing. The final course often features the Moussalér, where ashta ice cream rests beneath spun sugar and crushed pistachios, completing a meal rooted in Armenian cuisine.
