The story
Inspired by second-generation restaurateur Umut Özkanca’s Istanbul heritage, Rüya brings the flavours of the Anatolian peninsula to Riyadh. The kitchen draws on a rich history that stretches from the Mediterranean to the Black Sea, offering sophisticated, contemporary dishes built around seasonal ingredients. Herbs and spices are painstakingly sourced to capture the finest expression of Anatolian flavour — a philosophy the team describes as “bold, bright and beautiful.”
The setting matches the ambition. Designed by Conran and Partners, the interiors are a series of sleek rooms with brass detailing, warm wood accents and plush seating. The effect is elegant yet welcoming, with natural elements grounding the space. It’s the kind of place where a long lunch feels as natural as a late dinner.
The Mekan Bar invites guests to explore the seven regions of Anatolia through signature cocktails. Black Sea tea, Mediterranean fruits, pomegranate and pistachio all find their way into inventive drinks, including the house-famous Nazar Sour. The bar team reimagines cocktail classics with a Turkish twist, making it a destination in its own right.
For private gatherings, Rüya offers an Özel Room seating 18 and a Chef’s Table for 12, where diners can watch the culinary team at work. The restaurant also accommodates exclusive hire for events and corporate functions.
Rüya’s commitment to refined, contemporary Turkish cuisine has earned it a Michelin Recommended distinction in the 2026 guide — a fitting nod to a restaurant that brings the heart of Anatolia to the Saudi capital with confidence and grace.
