The story
Restavracija, pizzeria in bar Špica in Bled anchors its seasonal menus around authentic Slovenian cuisine. Owners Jani Klemenčič and Miha Pirih revived the venue in 2008, drawing directly on their backgrounds as Olympic rowers. The dining room reflects that athletic lineage through wood accents and nautical detailing, while the bar area remains distinctly separate from the main seating.
The kitchen treats Slovenian cooking as a foundation rather than a boundary. Mangalica pork arrives prepared in the Viennese style alongside pureed celery greens, while sea bass fillets pair with potato rosti and vanilla-infused white sauce. Dough for the Neapolitan pizzas stretches thin before meeting toppings sourced from local producers, bridging Italian method with regional flavors.
Floor-to-ceiling windows frame the island and castle, guiding natural light across polished tables throughout the afternoon. Guests often spill onto the stone terrace where a central fireplace warms the space beneath old chestnut trees. This steady commitment to quality earned the venue a 12.5 rating from Gault&Millau in 2026.
