The story
The modern guest wants to eat well but live even better—less time at the table, more time by the lake. At Restavracija 1906, the answer is a relaxed, quality-focused concept that prizes substance over formality.
Named after the year Hotel Triglav and the Bohinj railway line opened, the restaurant has always been the heart of the hotel. Today, under Chef Aleš Fende, that heart beats with a clear philosophy: respect for Slovenian tradition, seasonal ingredients, and trusted local producers. The cuisine is contemporary in expression, but the roots run deep.
The restaurant earned a Michelin recommendation from 2022 through 2025, a recognition the team credits with bringing discipline and a deeper respect for craft. That knowledge now infuses every plate—but without the weight of a formal, hours-long dinner.
The rhythm here follows the day. Mornings bring generous breakfasts. Brunch, served Thursday through Monday, is relaxed and seasonal. Evening service is reserved for pre-booked groups, allowing for intimate, structured dinners with a set menu that draws on the same produce-driven, Slovenian-inspired cooking.
The setting is as considered as the food. The main dining room opens onto a terrace with views over Lake Bled, Bled Island, and the surrounding hills. A private fireplace room, a bar by the pool, and an exclusive wine cellar—home to more than 200 Slovenian labels—offer distinct spaces for working, gathering, or simply unwinding.
For wine lovers, the cellar is a destination in itself. In-house sommelier Danijel Galjot leads guided tastings of indigenous varieties like Rebula, Zelen, and Šipon, as well as top-tier bottlings from Styria to Goriška Brda. It is a taste of Slovenia’s wine story, told in sips.
Restavracija 1906 is a place where the best of Slovenian cuisine meets the comfort of a morning coffee or the quiet of a glass of wine at dusk. Good food, beautiful views, and the reassuring sense that the day is yours.
