The story

Restavracija Plesnik – Seasonal Fine Dining in Logar Valley, Kamnik | Michelin Recommended

A Michelin-Recognised Alpine Dining Room

Restavracija Plesnik is the dining arm of Hotel Plesnik, set deep in the Logar Valley near Kamnik, Slovenia. Surrounded by the unspoiled peaks of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, the restaurant offers a fine-dining experience that draws on the rhythms of the valley. The kitchen works with seasonal ingredients, letting the landscape dictate the menu. This commitment to place and purity earned the restaurant a Michelin Recommended award for 2026.

The Setting

The restaurant is part of a family-run hotel that has welcomed guests since the 1930s. The dining room is calm and unhurried, with views of the surrounding forest and mountains. In warmer months, outdoor seating lets you dine under the open sky. The atmosphere is one of quiet elegance – polished but not formal, with a focus on the food and the moment.

The Food

Without a menu to quote, we can say that the cuisine is squarely seasonal. The chef builds each plate around what is available from local farms, foragers, and the hotel’s own garden. Expect clean, precise flavours that reflect the Alpine terrain. The restaurant also offers a Gourmet Full-board Experience for hotel guests, and a bar and lounge for lighter meals or a pre-dinner drink.

Restavracija Plesnik is a place to slow down and taste the Alps. The Michelin nod confirms what regulars already know: this is one of the most compelling culinary addresses in the Logar Valley.

In the Logar Valley, nature quickly takes centre stage. The mountains rise dramatically above the valley, but Hotel Plesnik does not build its story on the view alone. Through its culinary offering, it shows how an alpine setting can become the foundation for something contemporary and distinctly personal. The evening tasting menu, available to both hotel guests and visitors, unfolds as a carefully crafted journey through the flavours of the Logar Valley. The opening bites serve as a gentle introduction to what follows. A strong local note comes from sirnek, a traditional fermented goat’s curd cheese, paired with roasted plum and plum gel in a harmonious combination. Hay-aged game brings echoes of the surrounding forests to the plate. The warm appetizer is equally impressive: onion, spelt, and apple come together in an unexpectedly elegant dish that demonstrates how simple ingredients can create something full of character. The star of the main course was duck. Confit duck leg is served with butternut squash cream and a velvety duck jus enhanced with orange. The sweet finale of quince, parsnip ice cream, and a crisp pumpkin-seed shell confirms the restaurant’s approach: a respectful yet confident dialogue between tradition and modernity. Plesnik is no longer just a destination for relaxation in the mountains - it is increasingly becoming a destination for those drawn to the valley by its cuisine.
