The story

Madruelo Restaurant in Cáceres, Spain – Michelin Recommended Mediterranean Cuisine

Madruelo, Cáceres

In the heart of Cáceres, a UNESCO World Heritage city, Madruelo occupies a privileged spot near Plaza Mayor and Santiago Church, on a cobbled street lined with palaces and convents. The setting is warm and welcoming, a classic in the local dining scene that draws on the bounty of the nearby dehesa and Mediterranean inspiration.

The kitchen works with seasonal products, and the chef’s suggestions give a clear sense of the style: foie gras carpaccio, fried octopus with garlic and peppers, tenderloin of deer with port and black truffle, and cod confit with sweet smoked paprika. All dishes are prepared with extra virgin olive oil from the Trasierra-Sierra de Granadilla region. The menu also includes a wide range of starters, grilled meats, and rice dishes, plus a dedicated foie section that runs from a simple carpaccio to an escalope with caramelised apple.

Madruelo’s recognition includes a Michelin recommendation, as well as a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence. The restaurant offers several set menus — such as the Clásico Madruelo and an Extremadura menu — which require prior reservation and are served to the whole table.

The atmosphere is relaxed and unhurried, and the restaurant can accommodate private parties. It is open for dinner, with air conditioning.
