Mirasierra opened its doors on 25 June 1974, in a more modest space than today’s, but with the same guiding principle: to offer the best of the local land. Located in Mogarraz, one of Spain’s most beautiful villages, the restaurant sits in the heart of the Sierra de Francia, a landscape that shapes its kitchen. The recipes here are handed down through generations – an intangible heritage that the team treats with quiet respect.

A setting that honours the past

The dining room is a tribute to tradition, from the striking sculpture “Memorias de esta Tierra” that greets guests to the embroideries and antiques that evoke earlier times. Large windows frame views of the village and the surrounding mountains. The atmosphere is calm, with no television and music kept at a volume that allows conversation. Three interconnected rooms, a bar area, and free parking for clients make it a comfortable stop after exploring the region.

Cooking that speaks of the land

Mirasierra’s cuisine is rooted in local produce and century-old recipes. Popular dishes include patatas meneas – a classic of the area, always well received – and limón serrano, a curious salad that surprises first-timers. Grilled meats, especially carnes a la brasa from the region’s Morucha beef, are a speciality, cooked over oak wood fire. The croquetas, made fresh daily, come in varieties such as chicken in pipitoria or seasonal specials. Other standouts are carrilleras de ibérico in thyme and port sauce with mushroom risotto, and bacalao en salsa verde with prawns and clams. The Menú Tradición, designed for two people, offers a tasting of these classics, finishing with house desserts like cheesecake, chestnut cream, and nuezada.
