The story
Chef Héctor Oribe, originally from Vitoria-Gasteiz, honed his skills in prestigious Basque kitchens like Arzak and Zuberoa. In 2000, he established his own restaurant in the small village of Páganos, just five minutes from Laguardia in the heart of Rioja Alavesa. Here, he offers a personal cuisine rooted in tradition, always respecting the seasonality of the ingredients.
The restaurant is housed in a bright, rustic-style dining room that seats 30 guests. A standout feature is the on-site wine cellar, which holds over 100 references from Rioja and Rioja Alavesa. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, thanks in part to the presence of his partner Patricia and the rest of the team. The tranquil setting makes it an ideal spot for a relaxed meal.
Héctor Oribe’s cooking is a fusion of tradition and modernity. He creates signature dishes with original touches, always using the best seasonal produce available. The culinary proposal is best explored through their tasting menus, available in both a complete and a reduced version. This commitment to quality and creativity has earned the restaurant a consistent recommendation in the Michelin Guide, most recently in the 2026 edition. It is a place where the flavors of the Basque Country and Rioja Alavesa meet in a modern, personal style.
