Since 1989, El Vaixell has been a fixture in Llançà, a family-run restaurant where the cooking is rooted in the traditions of the Alt Empordà coast. Joan Calsina and María run the kitchen, drawing on a lineage that goes back generations—their grandparents also ran a restaurant in the area. The family's passion for seafood and local produce is the foundation of everything they do.

Since 2004, El Vaixell has been located right in the heart of the port of Llançà, a setting that puts the sea at the center of the experience. The menu is built on fresh, local, seasonal ingredients, prepared with honesty and simplicity. Their most representative dishes include seafood rice, suquet de peix (a Catalan fish stew), calamars a la romana, and simply grilled fish—all made with respect for the fishermen's recipe book that defines their style.
