The story
In Fuenmayor, just outside Logroño in the heart of La Rioja, Alameda has built a reputation that draws diners from far beyond the region. The restaurant’s signature dish, a chuleta (bone-in rib chop), has become its calling card—a plate so revered that customers and food critics alike have made it the star of the menu. It’s a dish that has crossed the borders of the land, and the team remains fascinated by the many meat lovers who visit from afar just to taste it.
Alameda is, at its core, an asador—a traditional grill house. The parrilla (grill) has always been in full view of the diners, proudly displayed as the heart of the house. It is the foundation of the menu, from meats to fish, all treated with the skill of mastering the art of grilling. The kitchen works with tradition and honesty, respecting the quality of the produce that arrives daily. The protagonists are the product and the careful timing of its preparation.
The restaurant draws heavily from the huerta riojana—the vegetable gardens of Rioja. Fresh vegetables from the banks of the Ebro river are selected daily with exacting standards and treated as naturally as possible. Seasonality drives the menu, with exceptional off-menu items like natural asparagus, tear peas, truffles, artichokes, mushrooms, piparras, cardo riojano, and broad beans, all sourced from the best local suppliers.
Alameda describes itself as “casa”—a home. The team shares conversations, long lunches, and a particular way of understanding gastronomy with their guests. Their greatest joy is seeing the same customers return year after year, often bringing family and friends. It’s a place where the warmth of Riojan hospitality meets a serious, unpretentious commitment to the craft of grilling and market cooking. This dedication has earned it a place on the Michelin Recommended list, a natural recognition of its consistent quality.
