The story
At the Mandarin Oriental Ritz, Madrid, Deessa is the first Madrid restaurant from celebrated chef Quique Dacosta. The dining room, named Salón Alfonso XIII, opens onto a terrace with views of the Ritz garden — a restrained, elegant setting for cooking that the chef describes as a romance between the sea and the land.
Dacosta, who holds three Michelin stars at his eponymous restaurant in Dénia, brings the same creative drive to Deessa. He is known for combining tradition with innovation, using local products and cultural references whenever possible. The kitchen here earned two Michelin stars for its “excellent cooking,” a recognition woven into the restaurant’s identity from the start.
The menu is built around two extensive tasting journeys, “Histórico” and “Contemporáneo,” served at lunch and dinner. A third option, the “Chronos” menu, takes its name from the Greek god of time and offers a wide selection of dishes so guests can create their own tailored meal. The restaurant describes Chronos as beautiful, hedonistic, and delicious — a reminder that even as life passes quickly, there is always time for pure enjoyment. This menu is available Wednesday through Friday for lunch, and Wednesday and Thursday for dinner.
Deessa is open for lunch from Wednesday to Saturday, and for dinner Wednesday through Saturday. It closes for a summer break from 26 July to 1 September, and again from 1 to 11 November.
The restaurant is part of the Mandarin Oriental Ritz, Madrid, a hotel that has long been one of the city’s most iconic addresses. Dacosta’s cooking, grounded in the flavours of Spain but never bound by them, makes Deessa a destination for anyone seeking fine dining in Madrid.
