The story

Alaparte: Fran Rascado's Contemporary Bistrot in Málaga

The Chef and His Roots

Alaparte is the personal expression of chef Fran Rascado, a contemporary bistrot that pays tribute to his people and to Málaga. Rascado has been working stoves since the age of 15, raised among the aromas of chapulinas and chambeles, grandson of a marengo fisherman and a baker. His cooking is rooted in the sea and the land of his home, shaped by the marengo DNA that blends Galician heritage with Málaga blood, and influenced by the landscapes of La Axarquía.

Three Spaces, One Spirit

The restaurant unfolds in three distinct areas: a bar where guests watch the team in constant motion, a dining room that invites a slower pace, and a terrace always open to the city. Each corner is designed to be shared with friends and family, depending on the mood.

A Cuisine of Influence and Place

Rascado’s proposal is classically grounded, built on a constant commitment to the seasonality of Málaga’s gardens and fish markets. The flavors of Andalusian gastronomic culture sit alongside the subtle and profound influence of French and Japanese cuisine. This thoughtful approach has earned Alaparte a Michelin Recommended distinction, recognizing its place in Málaga’s dining landscape. The wine cellar, like the kitchen, evolves with the seasons, offering a diverse list that pairs Málaga and Andalusian wines with selections from across Spain and Europe.
