The story
In the coastal town of O Grove, in the heart of the Rías Baixas, D'Berto stands as a dedicated temple to seafood and fish. The restaurant’s philosophy is direct: source the finest seasonal product from the Galician coastline, chosen for its exceptional quality and striking size, then prepare it with a naturalness that lets the flavour speak for itself. As the team puts it, theirs is “a cuisine that seeks naturalness in preparation and presentation, without masks that disguise the taste.”
The experience begins before you step inside. A large aquarium visible from the street displays the day’s most impressive specimens. Once inside, a cold room where the fish and shellfish of the day are shown, alongside a wine cellar with more than 300 references, sets the tone for what follows.
At D'Berto, the cooking methods are classic and precise: grilled, griddled, steamed, stewed. Each technique is chosen to bring the seafood and fish to an unusual point of perfection. This commitment earned the restaurant the title of Best Seafood and Fish Restaurant in Spain at the prestigious Madrid Fusión congress in 2014, and it continues to draw a Michelin Recommendation today. The kitchen works with the utmost respect for the raw material, reflecting on each plate to extract the very best from it.
The wine list mirrors this same spirit. With over 250 references, including a strong focus on Galicia’s finest appellations and smaller “garage” wineries with tiny productions, alongside a well-chosen selection of Champagnes and spirits, the cellar is designed to match the quality of the food.
D'Berto describes its environment as “the most suitable setting for a unique gastronomic experience.” The dining room, presided over by that living aquarium, is understated and focused on the food. New seasonal menus keep the offering fresh, always anchored by the same principle: the finest Spanish seafood, treated with clarity and respect.
