The story
In the historic heart of Pontevedra, on Plaza de la Leña, O Eirado da Leña is a small, focused restaurant where the philosophy is simple and absolute: product, product, product. Chef Iñaki Bretal, who earned the city’s first Michelin star in 2020, leads a kitchen that prizes the best raw ingredients above all else. His approach is grounded in the belief that great cooking starts with what the land and sea provide, prepared with clarity and respect.
The dining room is intimate, seating just six tables, and a private dining room is also available. The atmosphere is welcoming and unhurried, designed to make guests feel at ease while they focus on the food. The menu is concise, presented through two tasting options: the Curricán and the longer, more adventurous Palangre. The Palangre menu, the restaurant’s most extensive, unfolds across eight starters, two main courses, two desserts, and petit fours, showcasing the kitchen’s creativity and skill.
The wine program is equally considered, with a cellar of over 400 labels that is constantly evolving. True to the restaurant’s ethos, there is a strong emphasis on Galician wines from small producers, alongside a carefully curated selection of distinctive bottles from Spain and beyond. O Eirado da Leña is a place that lets the quality of its ingredients and the precision of its cooking speak for themselves, earning its place as a destination for contemporary cuisine in Pontevedra.
