The story
Narbasu is the latest expression of the Manzano family’s deep connection to Asturias. Sandra, Esther and Nacho Manzano have created a restaurant that is both respectful and self-sufficient, drawing on its own kitchen garden and the finest ingredients from the surrounding valleys and mountains. The cooking stays close to the earth – a style that echoes the early menus of their legendary Casa Marcial, now brought to life within the stone walls of the Palacio de Rubianes.
Set between the river and the Asturian mountains, the palacio offers a rare tranquillity. The dining room opens onto terraces with views of the Picos de Europa, while the air carries the scent of forest and pasture. Here, hospitality is second nature: the Manzano siblings learned it from their parents, who ran a small guesthouse and cared for every detail so guests felt at home. That same warmth defines Narbasu today.
The kitchen’s philosophy is straightforward – honour the raw materials. The restaurant works directly with local cattle farmers, vegetable growers and artisan producers, fostering a circular economy that supports rural Asturias. This commitment to sustainability earned Narbasu a Michelin Green Star, alongside its Recommended distinction, making it a destination for those who value both flavour and responsibility.
Narbasu is also a hotel with 23 comfortable rooms, but the restaurant remains the heart of the estate. Whether you sit indoors by the fireplace or outside under the arcades, the experience is unhurried and genuine. The menu changes with the seasons, shaped by whatever the garden and the land provide – a celebration of Asturias in every plate.
