The story
At Nabo Matbar on Drottninggatan 124, the philosophy is simple: be a good neighbour. Chef duo Isabell Seger and Felix Paradis have created a modern kvarterskrog – a neighbourhood restaurant – where the love for food and people is at the heart of everything. The White Guide has recognised their work at a "Very fine level," noting the high pulse and subdued sound level in the Scandinavian-modern dining room.
Guests can choose their own adventure at Nabo. Take a regular seat in the dining room, or sit at the bar with a direct view of the open kitchen to watch the chefs at work. For larger groups, the intimate Chambre séparée offers a more secluded experience just past the entrance.
The menu is built around small plates – two smaller dishes equal one main course – allowing guests to compose their own tasting journey or let the kitchen decide. The cooking is grounded in craft, with a clear focus on locally sourced, seasonal ingredients. The team even maintains their own plot in Hjortshög, growing everything from potatoes and asparagus to salad greens, tomatoes, mushrooms and berries. What isn't served fresh is carefully preserved through pickling and preserving, ensuring homegrown touches appear on the plate year-round.
The wine list spans both old and new world selections, and the team takes time to help find the right match for each dish. Regular Winemakers Dinners with collaborating producers add another layer to the seasonal experience.
