The story

Vinberga Vinkiosk, Karlskrona – Award-Winning Wine Bar & Dining Room on Landbron

From Kiosk to Dining Room

What started as Blekinges smallest kitchen — a seasonal wine kiosk run on instinct and good taste — has grown into something more considered. Vinberga Vinkiosk has moved from its original kiosk format to a proper dining room and bar at Landbron in Karlskrona, and the step up has done nothing to dull the spirit of the place.

The two figures behind it all are Elias Johansson, who runs the kitchen, and Johan Ros, who steers the wine program. Together they have built something that White Guide describes as operating at a "very fine level" — recognising not just the food and drink, but the particular atmosphere the two have created around the table.

The Room, the Bar, the Feeling

The dining room is painted a deep Dala blue and decorated with delicate ceramics by Karin Meijer from Ramdala. It is a small but deliberate space, with a warmth that White Guide calls "familjar och snickesnackig" — familiar, chatty, easy. There is also a courtyard for outdoor dining, and a bar where guests can drop in without a reservation, eat a plate or two, or simply drink something well chosen.

The bar menu always includes charcuterie and cheese alongside whatever else is running that day. A good way to open an evening, according to the restaurant, is with a glass of unfiltered, apple-scented sparkling wine from Jura and a piece of cheese before moving into the dining room.

The Menu and the Wines

The set menu runs to five courses, with each serving shaped by what is available by season and what the kitchen feels like cooking that day. The wine pairing follows the same logic — Johansson and Ros serve only wines they would choose to drink themselves, mostly natural, and the list shifts with availability, season and, as they put it, personal mood.

Vinberga Vinkiosk is a wine bar and dining room that takes its craft seriously without taking itself too seriously — a rare combination, and one that has earned it a firm place among Sweden's most distinctive small restaurants.

White Guide — Very fine level

The kiosk is but a memory now that Vinberga has moved down to Landbron and upgraded to a dining room and bar. The culinary virtuosos Elias Johansson (in the kitchen) and Johan Ros (steering the wine program) run the show. The playful and provisional charm of the old kiosk is gone, but in return there is a lovely courtyard terrace, a quirky jazz playlist in the restroom, and food at least on the same high level. The dining room is painted a deep blue and adorned with delicate ceramics by Karin Meijer in Ramdala. It is in the small but efficient kitchen where you should ideally start the evening with a glass of unfiltered, apple-scented sparkling wine from Jura and a piece of cheese. Afterward, the dining room awaits with its warm, family-like and lively conversational atmosphere.
