The story
What was once the summer residence of Hedwig and Edward Olsson now stands as one of Lerum's most cherished gathering places. In 1947, the Olsson family's children donated Aludden to Lerums municipality, with the expressed hope that it would become a "blessing and benefit for the municipality and its inhabitants." That wish has been more than fulfilled.
The beautiful old building sits in the park overlooking Lake Aspen, and over the decades it has served as a school — a fact that many of today's guests remember fondly from their earliest years. Now it carries that history forward as a restaurant and event venue, a meeting place for food, people, and memories.
Fredrik Säfwenberg has been at the helm since 2006, and his steady hand is a large part of what earned Aludden a place in the White Guide 2026. The kitchen's approach is grounded in care and respect for ingredients, leaning into seasonal flavours and local influences. Everything is made with attention — including the baked goods, which come from the restaurant's own bakery.
Adding further depth to the experience is sommelier Mattias Säfwenberg, who brings genuine expertise in Swedish wine. It's an in-house resource that sets Aludden apart and gives the dining experience a considered, complete quality.
The rhythm here is pleasantly varied. Weekday lunches — served Monday through Friday — are a local institution, traditionally featuring herring to start and a slice of cake from the bakery to finish. Weekend lunches run on Saturdays and Sundays. From Wednesday through Saturday, the kitchen also opens for à la carte in the evening, with Fridays drawing a particular crowd.
The setting is easy to reach: within walking distance of the commuter rail and with generous parking, it draws visitors from well beyond Lerum. Outdoor seating, lake views, and a calendar that shifts almost weekly — with holidays reflected in the menu — keep things fresh throughout the year.
Aludden's capacity extends well beyond daily dining. The entire property, or parts of it, can be reserved for weddings, birthday celebrations, graduations, corporate conferences, or quieter memorial gatherings. The combination of a historic park setting, attentive service, and a kitchen that takes its ingredients seriously makes it a natural choice for occasions that call for something more than ordinary.

It is not just locals from Lerum who find their way here. Within walking distance of the commuter train and with ample parking, it makes for an ideal day trip. Delicious lunches are served both on weekdays and weekends, featuring herring as a starter and cake afterwards – from their own bakery, of course. Expertise in Swedish wine is also available on-site, in the form of sommelier Mattias Säfwenberg. Something new happens here almost every week. On Fridays, the venue is also open in the evening, and holidays are gladly celebrated and reflected in the menu.
