The story
Brasserie Sture 1912 has been a fixture in Malmö since its founding in 1912 as Café & Restaurant Sturehof. The restaurant moved to its current home at Adelgatan 13 in 1915, a building designed by architect Alfred Arwidius. Over the decades, it has weathered bankruptcies, renovations, and changes in ownership, always remaining a beloved gathering place for locals—from theatre-goers and lawyers to families and travellers.
In early 2021, a new trio took over: Kenneth Andrén, architect Jonas Lindvall, and restaurateur David Kallós, known from the legendary Malmö restaurant Brogatan. They renovated the space with deep respect for its history, preserving the warm, mahogany-paneled atmosphere that has defined it since the 1950s. The kitchen, now under the guidance of a team that earned the restaurant a Michelin Recommendation for 2026, focuses on Mediterranean cuisine with a distinctly seasonal, produce-driven approach. The recognition is a testament to the restaurant’s commitment to quality and consistency.
The restaurant describes itself as a place where you can slip in before or after the theatre, for a lunch meeting, or for a drink with snacks at the bar. It is equally suited for celebrating special occasions, whether you come alone, as a couple, or in large groups. The menu changes regularly, reflecting the seasons and the kitchen’s Mediterranean inspiration. Dishes like lamb patty with tomato sauce, confit of duck leg, or poached witch flounder with lemon sauce and chives are typical of the straightforward, well-executed cooking. The wine list is curated to complement the food, and the bar is a welcoming spot for a glass of wine or a cocktail.
