The story
At Lyran Matbar on Simrishamnsgatan, the kitchen follows the rhythm of the seasons. Each day’s delivery of raw ingredients determines what lands on the plate. The restaurant’s philosophy is simple: let the produce speak, and honour the people who grow, catch or refine it. This approach to modern Swedish cuisine has earned Lyran Matbar a place in the Michelin Guide, Recommended for 2026.
The menu is offered in three set formats, each built around 7–8 servings that move from small snacks through medium-sized dishes to dessert. A mixed menu balances vegetarian plates with seafood and meat. A pescatarian version swaps one or two vegetable courses for fish or shellfish. And a vegetarian menu, which includes eggs and dairy, is also available. Vegans are welcome with 24 hours’ notice. All menus are priced at 700 SEK per person.
Wine pairings are a natural part of the experience. The restaurant works with five different wines for 650 SEK, or 750 SEK with champagne. A non-alcoholic pairing of five homemade drinks is offered at 300 SEK. The wine list is featured on Star Wine List.
Lyran Matbar is designed for adults. The atmosphere is intimate and deliberate, with no room for prams or high chairs. Pets are not allowed. The space includes counter dining and outdoor seating, and air conditioning keeps things comfortable in warmer months.
Reservations are taken in two seatings per evening, at 17:00/17:30 and 20:00/20:30, Tuesday through Saturday. The restaurant is cashless. For serious allergies, especially to soy, citrus or onion, it is best to contact the team in advance, as these ingredients form the base of much of the cooking. Dairy and egg allergies can be accommodated with notice.
