Allegrine

Chef Danyel Couet's French brasserie in Stockholm, named for his Parisian grandmother, serves honest seasonal cooking in a festive, blue-lit setting.

The story

Allegrine Stockholm – Danyel Couet's French Brasserie on Kammakargatan

A Grandmother's Kitchen, Reimagined in Stockholm

The name says everything. Allegrine was Danyel Couet's grandmother, and it was in her Paris kitchen that the chef's devotion to French food took root — the scent of thyme and garlic, lentils and asparagus cooked with unhurried care, sausages and turnips that left impressions no amount of fine dining has been able to erase. After more than 25 years and a hand in over 20 restaurant openings, Couet keeps finding himself pulled back to those childhood flavors. Allegrine, his restaurant on a quiet plaza off Kammakargatan, is where that pull finally has a permanent address.

The Room

Walk in and the references to grandma Allegrine are immediately visible — the palette runs blue, white and red throughout, a quiet hommage rendered in a thoroughly modern key. The interior is soberly dark, the mood anything but: colored glass domes glow overhead, a DJ holds court at the long bar, and the open kitchen is visible straight through the back of the counter. Blue-flowered plates arrive alongside patinated silver cutlery and rough linen napkins, a deliberate contrast between the ornate and the elemental that feels very French in its logic. White Guide recognized the restaurant at a very fine level in 2026, singling out exactly this atmosphere — elegant and festive at once, like a mademoiselle who knows when to be serious and when to dance.

The Food

Couet is deliberate about what Allegrine is not: not trendy, not classic in a museum sense, not chasing innovation for its own sake. The cooking has clear roots in French brasserie tradition — the same tradition that produced his grandmother's onion soups and asparagus — interpreted through seasonal ingredients the team genuinely wants to cook with. Lunch runs Monday through Friday; the kitchen stays open late on Fridays and Saturdays, making it a natural stop for a proper dinner that doesn't have to end early.

The Kitchen Table

For groups of eight to twelve, Allegrine offers something closer to the original inspiration: a reserved Kitchen Table adjacent to the open kitchen, where a specially composed fixed menu is served to the whole party. The format is explicitly modeled on family dinners at grandmother Allegrine's home in Paris — communal, unhurried, and centered on the kind of cooking that sticks with you.

White Guide — Very fine level

The color scheme throughout Danyel Couet’s restaurant is consistently blue, white, and red—a homage to his French grandmother, whose name was indeed Allegrine. In this restaurant incarnation, she is portrayed as an elegant and modern mademoiselle, reflected in the subdued dark decor and festive ambiance, which is further enhanced by a DJ stationed at the long bar. Colorful glass domes illuminate the ceiling, and behind the bar counter, there is a direct view into the open kitchen. The plates served from there feature romantic blue floral patterns, paired with patinated silver cutlery and textured linen napkins, creating a striking contrast to the sleek design.
