The story

Ergo – Modern Fine Dining in the Heart of Stockholm

Modern Craftsmanship in a Storied Setting

Ergo occupies one of Stockholm's most quietly prestigious addresses — a space with genuine history and a standard that demands to be met. Executive chef Petter Johansson and his team have taken on that challenge with what the White Guide, in awarding the restaurant its Very Fine Level recognition for 2026, describes as "sober warmth" and a "rarely thorough welcome." The guide notes the considerable courage it takes to open a serious fine dining restaurant in these particular rooms, and finds that courage well placed.

The dining room itself sets the tone: calm, elegant, and softly milk-white, with beautifully dressed tables and the kind of unhurried atmosphere that makes guests feel at home without ever feeling underdressed for the occasion. Service begins with a guided tour of the full restaurant, introductions all around — a gesture that is both gracious and disarming.

The Menu

The kitchen works to a seasonal five-course menu, served Wednesday through Saturday, with each course presented as a choice between two preparations. It is a format that respects the guest's preference without diluting the kitchen's point of view. The current menu moves from mackerel with strawberry, tomato and nasturtium, and veal with boquerones, radish and marigold, through a middle act of turbot à la brioche with shrimp, asparagus and buttermilk alongside spring chicken with morel, vin jaune and foie gras, to a principal of sea bass with razor clam, parsley and raisin or sweetbread with winter truffle, corn and girolles. Dessert brings a lemon tart with meringue and lemon balm, or a rhubarb and saffron soufflé with pistachio. The five-course menu is priced at 2,650 SEK.

For lunch on Thursday through Saturday, a three-course prix fixe menu offers a more compact expression of the same seasonal thinking.

Wines and the Wider Experience

The beverage program draws on producers both small and large, united by a shared commitment to quality. Ergo also offers a private salon for groups of up to twelve, and outdoor seating for those who want to take in Artillerigatan on a fine Stockholm day. The restaurant's own shorthand — modern craftsmanship, familiar warmth, elevated dining — turns out to be an accurate description rather than a promise.

Well. It takes quite a bit of courage to open a fine-dining restaurant in Gastrologik’s former location; this space carries both a rich pedigree and creative heights that the Söderlund couple, alongside head chef Petter Johansson, must live up to. That courage certainly seems present, but what greets you in the entrance isn’t any swagger or bravado. Instead, there’s a quiet warmth delivered through an exceptionally genuine welcome. Almost immediately, the waitstaff begins a guided tour of the entire restaurant, exchanging polite nods and greetings with every member of the team as they cross paths. Once settled in the calm, elegant, and beautifully milky-white dining room, you feel right at home—even if few people actually have sofas quite this plush beside tables draped in such pristine white linens. But then again, among Ergo’s guests, there might actually be a few who do. Seated among the tables is Stockholm’s more (most?) established and affluent crowd.
