The story
On Blasieholmen, steps from the water, Restaurang B.A.R. is a family-run seafood restaurant that keeps things refreshingly direct. The philosophy is simple: “Good food is an important part of a balanced diet.” Here, guests are invited to walk up to the sea grill, point at their choice from the aquarium or ice counter, and decide how it should be cooked. Fresh fish, shellfish, seasonal vegetables, and sides – you build your plate from scratch or pick one of B.A.R.’s suggested dishes, designed to complement each other and the season.
This is a place where the line between kitchen and dining room blurs. The atmosphere is a timeless bistro, a meeting spot for friends, colleagues, and strangers, calibrated for city life. The menu shifts with the seasons, ensuring what’s served is what’s best right now. The team works actively to offer high-quality seafood at a noticeably low price – and you can even take the day’s catch home.
Restaurang B.A.R. is run by Annette & Peter Johansson and Daniel Frick. After six years running the fine-dining restaurant Lux Stockholm, they opened B.A.R. in 2009 with a simpler, more interactive concept. Peter Johansson (silver medalist in Årets kock 2006) and Daniel Frick (winner of Årets unga kock 2004, runner-up in Sweden’s Bocuse d’Or 2008) bring serious credentials to the seafood-focused menu. Their work has been recognized with a Michelin recommendation, a nod to the consistent quality and seasonal precision that defines this Stockholm staple.
