The story
ÄNG sits within Ästad Vingård, an organic Scandinavian vineyard in the Halland countryside. The restaurant’s philosophy is simple: explore global techniques, but never leave home. Ann-Catrine and Filip Gemzell, the owners, work almost exclusively with ingredients gathered from the surrounding forests, beaches, and fields. The wines in their cellar come from vines growing just a hundred metres away.
This deep commitment to place has earned ÄNG a Michelin star, a recognition of its high-quality cooking and the singular experience it offers.
There is no à la carte. Every guest receives the full tasting menu, which unfolds over roughly four and a half hours. The kitchen lets the produce speak for itself, presenting the menu only after the meal is finished to preserve the element of surprise. A pescetarian adaptation can be arranged, but vegetarian or vegan menus are not available.
Pairings are equally thoughtful. The beverage selection includes wines from Ästad Vingård alongside a curated global wine list. Guests can also choose a non-alcoholic or sparkling pairing.
For those staying overnight at Ästad Vingård, ÄNG serves a tasting breakfast in the glasshouse. Inspired by Nordic traditions with global touches, it comes with homemade beverages from the sommeliers and takes about an hour and a half. The breakfast is included in the ÄNG package at the vineyard, or can be booked separately.
