The story

Drei Könige, Luzern: Michelin-Recommended Farm-to-Table Fine Dining

Herzlich willkommen – Drei Könige in Luzern

On Klosterstrasse in the heart of Lucerne, Drei Könige has built a reputation for thoughtful, ingredient-driven cooking. The restaurant’s philosophy centres on a farm-to-table approach, sourcing seasonal produce to create dishes that let the raw materials speak. This commitment to quality and simplicity has earned Drei Könige a Michelin Recommended distinction for 2026 – a quiet nod to the kitchen’s consistency and respect for the product.

The menu changes with the seasons, and the kitchen works closely with local producers. While the exact dishes shift, the ethos remains constant: honest food, carefully prepared. The dining room balances fine dining precision with a relaxed Swiss warmth. For a more casual evening, the Stübli offers a cosy alternative – wood-panelled, unhurried, and perfect for enjoying a glass from the restaurant’s impressive wine cellar. The wine list is a point of pride, with a deep selection that complements the cooking without overshadowing it.

Drei Könige also participates in the Kulinarik Festspiele Luzern, a local celebration of food and culture, reflecting its place in the city’s culinary landscape. The team behind the restaurant – from the kitchen to the front of house – works to create an experience that feels both elevated and genuine.

Whether you come for a full tasting menu or a simple evening in the Stübli, Drei Könige delivers a distinctly Lucerne take on fine dining: grounded, generous, and worthy of its Michelin nod.

The «Drei Könige» in the Bruch district is a lively, well-run neighborhood bistro whose menu fits on a single A4 sheet and offers almost everything one expects from a brasserie. We began with a wonderful, hand-cut tartare from Holstein cattle served with a mushroom salad and Parmesan, then our competent service staff poured a somewhat overly thick asparagus soup over a carefully plated asparagus salad with morels. By contrast, the salmon ceviche from Lostallo with rhubarb and watercress was perfect, with tangy yuzu providing the right kick. The veal loin steak with Marsala jus, creamed chard, and young thyme potatoes was also delicious. Our favorite, however, was the juicy pork chop, gratinated with spinach and feta on roasted cauliflower purée and accompanied by baby carrots. Chef Thomas Bischof also masters Mediterranean cuisine, as demonstrated by the «Niçoise» trout with potatoes, egg, baby lettuce, green beans, and olives. The wine list ranks among the best in the city, and we enjoyed a finely aged Phélan Ségur 2009 for a fair 110 Swiss francs.
