The story
Murtaröl operates as a dedicated seafood restaurant in St. Moritz, sourcing daily catches from Milan's market and the region's lakes. This fish kitchen balances local Saibling from the Oberengadiner Seen with a wide array of marine delicacies delivered each morning.
Aris Walther nurtured a childhood dream to open a dedicated fish establishment, eventually realizing this vision alongside his wife and three children. The restaurant carries that personal investment forward, though the Walther family will pass operations to new owners starting November first. Current proprietors Antonio, Nico, Nicole, and Nina Walther express gratitude for years of guest loyalty while preparing for fresh chapters ahead.
The menu features a Canadian lobster bisque paired with squid stuffed with crustacean mince and served atop airy potato purée. Gault&Millau awarded the kitchen a score of 13 for 2026, highlighting the quality of dishes like the Canadian lobster bisque and the black sesame-crusted tuna tagliata. Guests also find linguine tossed with prawns from San Remo in a rich lobster fond sauce, while regional options include Seesaibling prepared with butter and sage.
The venue offers both indoor seating within the main hall and outdoor terraces positioned along Via dal Malögia. The environment frames vistas extending toward Piz Corvatsch and the reflective surface of Silsersee. This setup accommodates varied dining paces, from lunch service to extended evening gatherings where the mountain backdrop sets a calm tone.
An extensive wine list provides options priced fairly relative to the quality offered, complementing the seafood selections effectively. Desserts arrive with straightforward execution, prioritizing taste over elaborate decoration to conclude the meal cleanly. This balance ensures the focus remains on the day's freshest ingredients without unnecessary complication.
