The story
At focus ATELIER, chef Patrick Mahler and his award-winning team guide guests through multi-course menus that fuse a classical French foundation with Japanese precision and Nordic clarity. The result is imaginative, contrast-rich cuisine that has earned the restaurant two Michelin stars and 18 Gault Millau points. Mahler’s approach starts with exceptional product quality, then builds finely tuned flavour structures into each dish.
The setting is as refined as the food. Through panoramic glass overlooking Lake Lucerne and the surrounding Alps, diners enjoy a sense of calm and clarity. The interior is elegant yet understated, with attentive service and a wine list that has been named Best Wine List in Switzerland by Star Wine List and Best Wine List in the World by World of Fine Wine – a cellar of over 35,000 bottles across six vaults.
The restaurant’s achievements go beyond the dual Michelin stars. It holds a place in Les Grandes Tables Du Monde, the 50 Best Discovery list, and was named Gault Millau Rising Chef of the Year in 2019. Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence and the World of Fine Wine title further underline the commitment to quality across every course and every glass.
Among the standout creations is Entenlebereis, Rande, Rindertatar – a duck liver ice cream paired with beetroot and beef tartare, emblematic of Mahler’s playful yet precise style. The menus evolve with the seasons, drawing on the chef’s international inspirations while staying rooted in a classical French technique.
