The story
In the historic centre of Walenstadt, just a short walk from the Walensee, Restaurant Löwen has been a place of genuine hospitality for generations. The inn sits beneath the imposing Churfirsten mountain range, and its atmosphere is defined by a warm, unpretentious welcome – what the team calls "gelebte Gastfreundschaft."
The restaurant offers two distinct dining experiences: the Taverne – Gourmetstube and the more casual Beiz. Both are rooted in local ingredients and seasonal cooking, though the kitchen does not broadcast its menu details online. What is clear is the pride in craftsmanship, recognised by the Michelin Guide with a Recommended award for 2026. The same authenticity earned Löwen the top spot in the Swiss television show Mini Beiz dini Beiz in eastern Switzerland, scoring 39 points.
Outdoor seating is available, allowing guests to enjoy the mountain views while dining. Whether you stop in after a hike or a day on the Flumserberg slopes, Löwen lives up to its reputation as a dependable, characterful inn in the heart of the Heidiland region.
