The story

logy Taipei: Michelin 2-Star Asian Contemporary Cuisine in Neihu District

logy’s Taipei Homecoming

In a quiet lane of Taipei’s Neihu District, logy has reopened its doors in 2025, returning to the city where it first made its mark in 2018. The name itself—a suffix meaning “study” and “theory”—signals the restaurant’s intellectual approach to cuisine. Here, Chef Ryogo Tahara crafts an Asian contemporary dining experience that defies easy categorization, weaving together the living cultures and timeless wisdom of the continent.

A Chef’s Journey from Hokkaido to Taipei

Born in Hokkaido, Japan, in 1983, Chef Tahara trained in Italy under chefs like Gennaro Esposito and Maurilio Garola before spending three years as sous-chef at Florilège in Tokyo under Hiroyasu Kawate. In 2018, he opened logy in Taipei, bringing his unique perspective to the city’s dining scene. The restaurant quickly earned two Michelin stars, a recognition it continues to hold in the 2024 Michelin Guide Taiwan. This award speaks to the “excellent cooking” that defines the logy experience.

The Philosophy of Connection

logy’s cuisine celebrates Asian diversity through the lens of Japanese and Taiwanese heritage. The kitchen respectfully combines ingredients, techniques, and traditions inherited from each culture, creating new culinary experiences that honor nature, climate, humanity, faith, and food traditions. The result is a tasting menu that bridges tradition and creativity, served in an intimate space where the art of gastronomy and cherished moments transcend time.

The Dining Experience

The restaurant offers a single tasting menu at 4,750 TWD per person, with optional alcohol, wine, or non-alcohol pairings. The wine pairing, featuring seven glasses, is a particular highlight for those seeking to deepen their experience. The dining room is air-conditioned, and the wine list is curated with care, making it an ideal setting for a contemplative meal.

Practical Details

logy serves lunch Friday through Sunday and dinner Wednesday through Sunday, with last orders at 12:30 and 19:00 respectively. The restaurant is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Reservations are accepted online only, up to 30 days in advance, and must be guaranteed by a credit card. The restaurant caters to guests aged 12 and above, and can accommodate dietary restrictions with advance notice, though vegan, dairy-free, and other strict menus are not available.
