The story
Bokkia Tha Din Daeng is a modest shophouse dessert stall on Tha Din Daeng Road, in the Khlong San district of Bangkok. A short walk from the Chao Phraya River, it's accessible by ferry from Ratchawong Pier. The shop opens at 3 PM, and queues often form before then. Customers write their order and name on a slip, clip it to a board, and wait for their name to be called — a system that adds to the straightforward, old-school charm. The menu is simple, with takeaway bags and table service both available.
The star is the namesake "bokkia," a Chinese-style shaved ice dessert. The finely shaved ice is piled high and topped with a generous mix of ingredients: fresh coconut, jackfruit, triangular sticky rice, lotus seeds, grass jelly, agar jelly, corn, red beans, candied taro, candied water chestnut, and the distinctive yellow bami noodles. The noodles are a particular highlight — they turn pleasantly chewy when chilled. A light, subtly floral syrup ties everything together, with sweetness kept in check. The regular version costs 35 baht; the special (45 baht) adds extra toppings. Regulars often order "every topping" (โบ๊กเกี๊ยทุกอย่าง) to enjoy the full range of textures.
Bokkia Tha Din Daeng has been awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand for 2026, a recognition of its good quality and good value cooking. Despite its modest prices and simple setting, the stall attracts a loyal following — from students to families — who come for a refreshing, affordable treat. It's a place where tradition and taste meet, delivering a satisfying dessert that has earned its place in Bangkok's vibrant food scene.
