The story
Near Surin Beach on Phuket’s west coast, Wagyu Steakhouse brings together the finest imported meats, a carefully curated wine list, and a design that balances comfort with elegance. The restaurant earned a Michelin Recommended distinction in 2026, a recognition that reflects its commitment to quality across every detail.
The kitchen, led by Chef Nok, focuses on prime cuts sourced from the award-winning Darling Downs region in Australia. Wagyu beef grades 3 to 8 are dry-aged on site, then grilled over a Josper charcoal oven and a Beech Grill Oven. The result is meat that stays tender and moist, with a robust, smoky flavour. The menu also includes New Zealand lamb, pork, and fresh seafood—Boston lobster, Gillardeau French oysters with caviar, tuna ceviche, and classic Thermidor. Sides and desserts, including a molten chocolate fondant and a cheese selection chosen by a French Maître Affineur, round out the experience.
The interior was designed by Nao Taniyama, whose portfolio includes Michelin-starred steakhouses in Tokyo. Here, he created a space that feels both luxurious and relaxed. Martin Palleros added a vertical garden, bringing natural depth to the room. The bar, also designed by Taniyama, offers a striking setting for pre-dinner cocktails. The wine list spans old and new world regions, with premium wines available by the glass via Coravin technology, served in Riedel glassware. For those who prefer spirits, there is an extensive range of single malts and Cuban cigars.
Service is led by Khun Khem, who ensures a personalized and discreet standard of hospitality. Even the steak knives are considered—guests choose from five super-sharp options, including Laguiole and Dalstrong, each designed to glide through the meat.
Wagyu Steakhouse is a steakhouse in Phuket that delivers on its promise of quality, from the provenance of its beef to the precision of its grilling. It is open daily from 5:30 pm to midnight.
