The story
Since its founding in London in 2001, Hakkasan has become a global name in modern Chinese cuisine, with outposts in cities from Dubai to Las Vegas. In Istanbul, the brand brings its signature blend of tradition and innovation to a waterside setting in Kuruçeşme, on the European shore of the Bosphorus.
The restaurant’s cuisine is rooted in Cantonese traditions, reimagined with contemporary flair. The kitchen team works with the finest ingredients and time-honoured techniques to create dishes that balance authenticity with invention. While the menu includes signature items familiar to Hakkasan guests worldwide, each location also offers an “Only At” collection of dishes created exclusively for that city, giving the Istanbul outpost its own distinct character.
The interiors, originally conceived by designer Christian Liaigre, are intimate and opulent. Dark wood screens, rich fabrics, and subtle lighting fuse modern design with traditional Chinese motifs. Every detail—from the scent in the air to the curated musical playlists—is considered, creating an atmosphere that feels both luxurious and welcoming.
The wine philosophy here is singular: “the food chooses the wine.” The list features over 400 selections, and every bottle is tasted against the menu to ensure harmony. The cocktail programme is equally thoughtful, built around six character-driven signature drinks and a rotating “Only At” selection that highlights the bar team’s creativity.
Hakkasan İstanbul has been recognised in the Michelin Guide, earning a place among the city’s recommended restaurants for its consistent, quality Cantonese cooking. It is a destination for those who appreciate refined Chinese cuisine served with elegance and energy, right on the water.
