The story
Since 1995, Lokanta Feriye has occupied a historic palace on the Bosphorus shore, a setting that brings together some of Istanbul’s most iconic landmarks in a single view. The restaurant is part of Feriye Palace, a century-old waterfront complex restored by the Kabataş Education Foundation, and it operates as a social hub with event spaces, galleries, and interactive areas alongside the main dining room.
The kitchen is led by Chef Birkan Erköylü, whose team works with seasonal menus that offer current, refined interpretations of Turkish cuisine. The philosophy is straightforward: good ingredients are the foundation of a good dining experience. The result is Mediterranean cooking that feels both rooted in Istanbul’s rich culinary culture and distinctly modern. Lokanta Feriye has been included in the Michelin guide as a Recommended restaurant for 2023, 2024, and 2025, and also appears in the GaultMillau guide for 2024 and 2025.
Weekend breakfasts are a specialty, served in two sittings on Saturdays and Sundays, accompanied by live music. The restaurant also offers a carefully curated wine list and a full beverage program. The atmosphere is refined but welcoming, with airy salons overlooking the water, outdoor seating, and a smart casual dress code. After 17:00, the restaurant welcomes guests aged ten and above.
Lokanta Feriye is a place to experience Istanbul’s culinary heritage in a setting that has been part of the city’s life for more than a century.
