The story
On the European shore of the Bosphorus, in the leafy Kuruçeşme neighborhood just off Cemil Topuzlu Park, Park Fora has been a destination for seafood lovers for nearly three decades. Established in 1996 by Ali Rıza Yılmaz and İlhan Çulha, the restaurant combines a classic fish-house ethos with a cosmopolitan menu that draws both locals and visitors. In 2026, its commitment to quality was recognized with a Michelin Recommended award.
The setting is integral to the experience. A large terrace opens in warmer months, offering panoramic Bosphorus views and a breeze off the water. Inside, the tone is polished but relaxed. There is a bar that becomes a lively spot for cocktails as the sun sets. The same core service team, some with decades at the restaurant, ensures a sense of continuity and care.
Park Fora’s guiding motto is “seasonal fish, in its most natural state, on the table.” The kitchen, led by the same head chef since the beginning, sources fish according to the calendar: turbot in season, always-available barbun and sea bass, and Bosphorus favorites like wild sea bream and bluefish. Cold starters feature classic mezes such as torik (bonito), lakerda, shrimp salad, octopus salad, and stuffed mussels. Hot selections span fried calamari, shrimp casserole, grilled octopus, and jumbo shrimp. The international side of the menu is equally confident: king crab, oysters, lobster, and a house-interpreted paella are standouts.
Desserts go beyond the expected. Alongside chocolate soufflé and baked halva, the restaurant produces its own ice cream in-house, serving it with semolina pudding and seasonal fruit desserts like quince and fig. On the operational side, Park Fora works with a dedicated food engineer and an occupational safety specialist, focusing on hygiene, waste reduction, and energy efficiency. The team prioritizes local, seasonal ingredients and shares knowledge on sustainable fishing through its blog.
Park Fora is a place where the Bosphorus, the season, and the craft of seafood cooking come together – quietly, consistently, and with a marked lack of fuss.
