The story
Aslında Meyhane in Urla began not with a business plan, but with a love story. Two lovers, verses written for one another, and memories crowned around rakı tables. The wind carried a dream to Urla, and the journey started with love, then meşk (musical practice), then muhabbet (conversation). Words turned into music, rakı into remedy, and food into the centerpiece of the table. Friends became regulars. The restaurant’s name, “Aslında,” meaning “actually” or “in truth,” hints at the philosophy: “And actually, life is as beautiful as you can live it.”
At Aslında Meyhane, the past and present meet on the table. The kitchen, led by the restaurant’s chefs, transforms familiar Turkish flavors into new stories. The menu, available in both Turkish and English, offers a selection of meze and main courses that are the backbone of the meyhane tradition. The atmosphere is built on the pillars of friendship, conversation, and dreams—a place where the night stretches on over good food and drink.
Aslında Meyhane has been recognized with a Michelin Bib Gourmand award, a distinction for good quality, good value cooking. This places it among the best affordable dining options in the region. The restaurant is located on Dere Sokak in Urla, offering both outdoor seating and air conditioning, and is wheelchair accessible. It is closed on Tuesdays, opening its doors from 18:00 to 00:00 (00:30 on other days) for evening service.
