The story
In the heart of Henley-in-Arden’s High Street conservation area, The Mount has reopened under new stewardship. The team behind the beloved Bull’s Head in Wootton Wawen stepped in when this beautifully restored pub faced closure, bringing their experience and independence to a venue they call “the most amazing pub, restaurant and garden venue Henley has to offer.” Their work has already earned a Michelin Recommended distinction for 2026.
The Mount is currently serving a bar menu and Asian tapas while the kitchen finalises a more complete offering. What’s clear is the direction: authentic contemporary Thai and South-East Asian dishes sit alongside English pub classics done right. The cuisine blends Asian and Modern British influences, with an experienced kitchen team behind both. A full menu reveal, chef introductions and tasting previews are promised soon.
The Mount operates as one of the few true free houses in the region, independent of any brewer or wine merchant. That freedom extends to the drinks list: well-kept cask ales, draught beers, a carefully curated wine selection at honest prices, classic cocktails with an Asian twist, and even bubble tea and Belgian hot chocolate. Barista-grade espresso and a thoughtful tea selection round things out.
The pub interior has been restored with care, and the garden is described as the most stunning in Henley. There’s live music, community events, and dogs are always welcome. Walk-ins are accepted, though table bookings are available via OpenTable.
