The story
Set in the Berkshire countryside near Newbury, The Vineyard is a luxury hotel and spa where food and wine take centre stage. The property is currently closed for redevelopment, with plans to reopen in autumn 2026, and advance reservations for stays and dining are already being welcomed.
The heart of the dining experience is The Tasting Room, overseen by Executive Chef Tom Scade. Scade trained under John Williams MBE at The Ritz in London, where he helped maintain its Michelin star. His cooking is rooted in classical French technique, executed with modern precision. He lets the finest seasonal British produce speak for itself, creating plates that are both creative and refined. His accolades include winning the UK finals of the prestigious Le Taittinger Prix Culinaire in 2018.
The Vineyard’s remarkable cellar holds over fifteen thousand bottles, with an ever-evolving wine list that spans the Old and New Worlds. Each dish in The Tasting Room is designed to be paired with iconic wines, making the experience as much about what’s in the glass as what’s on the plate. The restaurant’s commitment to quality has earned it a Michelin recommendation, a recognition that reflects the precision of the cooking and the depth of the wine programme.
Beyond the dining room, guests can explore the hotel's individually designed rooms and suites, a spa with a relaxation pool, sauna and steam room, and curated experiences that include visits to the nearby All Angels Vineyard. The Vineyard offers a complete, restorative escape where modern cuisine and world-class wine come together with understated elegance.
