The story
The Wee Restaurant opened in 2006 on Main Street in North Queensferry, Fife. Husband and wife Craig and Vikki Wood set out with a clear ethos: serve simple, good food and fine wine in a truly relaxed atmosphere. Over the years, that straightforward promise has earned the restaurant a dedicated following and, in 2026, a Michelin Recommended award.
Chef-proprietor Craig Wood brings deep experience from some of the country’s most respected kitchens, including Restaurant Martin Wishart, the Royal Scotsman train, and the Crinan Hotel. He is a hands-on chef who remains passionate about the quality of both the food and the service. In 2015 he was named Chef of the Year at the CIS Excellence Awards. His cooking is rooted in classic cuisine, letting the ingredients speak for themselves.
Vikki Wood oversees the ambience and the drinks offering, curating a popular cocktail list and a carefully selected wine cellar. She takes pride in the unfussy, professional service that makes every guest feel welcome. Her drive and innovation led her to be a finalist for the prestigious Business Woman Scotland Award.
The restaurant itself is intimate, with a main dining area and a separate "Study" space. The menu changes daily, reflecting the team’s commitment to seasonal, fresh produce. Though small, it is designed to showcase classic cuisine at its best. The restaurant also offers a bespoke outside catering service for private events, weddings, and parties, bringing the same quality to any setting.
The Wee Restaurant’s Michelin Recommended status for 2026 is a testament to the consistency and care that Craig and Vikki bring to every plate and every interaction. As the guide notes, there is "a real sense of being somewhere special" – but the restaurant’s own motto says it all: simple good food and wine, done well.
