The story
Golden Hour describes itself with a phrase that sets the tone: “Wood-Fired flavors, friendly AF.” Located inside The Radical Asheville, Tapestry Collection by Hilton, this restaurant is a concept by Jacob Sessoms and has earned a Michelin Recommended distinction, a recognition the restaurant proudly shares on its site.
The kitchen works with a wood-fired grill, turning out dishes that range from a double smash burger with RAD sauce to a whole woodfired chicken with the week’s farmer’s vegetables. The menu, which changes with the seasons, also includes a hanger steak with chimichurri, a pork chop with North Carolina peaches, and a whole Sunburst trout with market greens and trout caviar buttermilk. Cold starters like beef carpaccio with tallow toast and Carolina peaches with Victor’s bleu cheese show a kitchen that values both technique and local ingredients.
The restaurant’s gallery page describes the space as “A celebration of what makes Asheville unique.” The atmosphere is meant to be welcoming and unpretentious, a place where the focus stays on the food and the company. This modern American restaurant is open for dinner Monday through Saturday, and also hosts events.
