The story
At Fogo de Chão on Piedmont Road, the tradition of the Brazilian steakhouse is alive and well. The restaurant is built on the culinary art of churrasco, a style of fire-roasting that originated in the mountainous landscapes of Rio Grande do Sul. The founders, who grew up on a traditional Southern Brazilian farm, learned this grilling technique before bringing their family’s legacy to the global stage.
The Atlanta location delivers the full Churrasco Experience. Gaucho chefs move through the dining room with skewers of fire-roasted meats, carving tableside. The menu includes signature cuts like Picanha (prime part of the top sirloin), Fraldinha (bottom sirloin), and Costela (beef ribs slow-roasted for over five hours). Alongside the meats, the Market Table offers a fresh and vibrant selection of seasonal items, and Bar Fogo serves Brazilian-inspired small plates and cocktails.
Fogo de Chão has earned a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence, reflecting a wine program that complements the robust flavors of churrasco. The restaurant’s own Founders Tribute Wine Collection features bottlings from Argentina, Chile, and California, each specifically paired with different cuts—from the lean Picanha to the rich Wagyu New York Strip. The Atlanta location also hosts special events, such as the VIK Wine Dinner, a chef-curated multi-course experience pairing premium South American wines with dishes like Wagyu New York Strip and Beef Ancho Bone-in Ribeye.
Since opening its first restaurant in Porto Alegre, Brazil, in 1979, Fogo de Chão has grown into a respected name in the steakhouse world. The Atlanta outpost on Piedmont Road continues that commitment to quality, offering a setting that is both refined and welcoming. Whether you are here for a full churrasco dinner, a lunch, or a private event, the experience is rooted in a respect for the heritage of the founders and a dedication to the craft of fire-roasting.
