The story
At Ling Kitchen on Research Boulevard, Chef Ling offers a deeply personal interpretation of Chinese cuisine. Born and raised in Fuzhou City in southeastern China, she credits her grandmother’s cooking for sparking her passion. After honing her skills in New York City’s Chinatown and later in Austin, she found her true home in Texas—a place where she could build both a career and a family.
Becoming a mother shifted her focus toward healthier cooking. Chef Ling now champions the use of local organic ingredients, a philosophy rooted in her upbringing and refined through international travel. This commitment to nutrition and flavor underpins her contemporary Chinese cooking, which has earned Ling Kitchen a spot on the Michelin Recommended list for 2026.
This is not a typical restaurant. Ling Kitchen is a private dining experience centered entirely around the chef’s table. With only ten guest spots per seating, you sit front row as Chef Ling prepares a multi-course menu before your eyes, sourcing the best produce for a meal that draws from air, sea, and turf. The evening is a true dinner and a show—an escape from the standard restaurant atmosphere.
Reservations are essential and release on the first of each month at noon. The experience is priced at $150 per person, with limited seating and a strict cancellation policy. Parties of two or four can book via Resy; larger groups must email directly. Note that special dietary menus are not available, and children under twelve are not permitted.
