The story
The Frogtown Chophouse is a family affair. Owned by the Winner and Noone families, it brings together the talents of Executive Chef Lyman Winner and restaurateur Eric Noone, who together have half a century of industry experience. Chef Winner, a graduate of Baltimore International College, leads the kitchen with what he calls "new American cuisine," while Noone, a former Off-Broadway actor, manages the front of house. The result is an American steakhouse that feels both polished and personal.
Located inside Woodfield Manor in Cresco, Pennsylvania, the restaurant offers a setting described as secluded and intimate. The menu walks the line between traditional steakhouse and something more inventive. Standouts include the signature Frogtown Crab Cake, a dish shaped by Chef Winner’s time in Baltimore, and the Chef’s Mixed Grill, a generous combination of steak, crab cake, and lobster tail. The atmosphere is sophisticated without being stiff—the kind of place where you can have a fine meal or a more casual dinner with the family.
The drink program is a serious draw, too. The bar serves artisanal cocktails and an award-winning wine list, one that earned the restaurant a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence in 2019. The wine selection covers old and new world producers, with a strong showing of California favorites and imported bottles. The bar menu features craft beers on tap and a rotating selection of spirits.
Beyond the dining room, the restaurant caters off-site through its mobile event kitchen, the Leap Frog. Whether it’s a wedding, corporate event, or a bereavement gathering, the team brings the same high-end service and food to local venues. With a focus on hospitality and a deeply personal touch, The Frogtown Chophouse has become a destination for steakhouse lovers in the Poconos.
