The story
Fogo de Chão in Cypress brings the authentic energy of a Brazilian steakhouse to Texas. The restaurant’s roots run deep in the mountainous countryside of Rio Grande do Sul, where the founding brothers learned the art of churrasco on a traditional farm. After formal training and opening their first wood-structured restaurant in Porto Alegre, they expanded to São Paulo and eventually to the United States, debuting in Dallas in 1997. Today, the Cypress location carries that same dedication to fire-roasted meats and warm hospitality.
The churrasco experience is the heart of the meal. Gaucho chefs carve an endless parade of fire-roasted cuts tableside: Picanha (prime top sirloin), Fraldinha (bottom sirloin), Wagyu New York Strip, Lamb Chops, and more. Each is seasoned simply with coarse salt and cooked over open flames, a technique refined over decades. Alongside the meats, the Market Table offers fresh salads, vegetables, and Brazilian sides like pão de queijo and fried polenta. Bar Fogo adds craft cocktails and small plates for a lighter option.
The wine program has earned a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence, a reflection of the restaurant’s commitment to pairing. The Founders Tribute Wine Collection features four exclusive labels—Jorjão, Eulila, O’Leão, and The Sonhadores—each selected to complement specific cuts. Regular wine dinners, like the recent VIK Wine Dinner, showcase chef-curated menus paired with 100-point vintages, including a multi-course progression from corn chowder to Wagyu New York Strip and Brazilian passion fruit mousse.
Whether for a celebratory dinner, a group gathering, or a weekday lunch, Fogo de Chão in Cypress delivers the full churrasco tradition—rooted in Brazilian heritage and fired by a passion for quality.
