The story
Fogo de Chão on McKinney Avenue brings the culinary art of churrasco to Dallas. The restaurant is rooted in a tradition that began in the mountainous landscapes of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, where the founders grew up on a family farm and learned to cook over open flames. This heritage, built on an obsessive dedication to quality, defines the experience here.
The menu centers on the full churrasco experience: a continuous service of fire-roasted meats carved tableside by gaucho chefs. Cuts include Picanha (the prime part of the top sirloin), Fraldinha (bottom sirloin), and the dry-aged Tomahawk. Alongside the meats, the seasonal Market Table offers fresh and vibrant salads, vegetables, and authentic Brazilian sides. Bar Fogo rounds out the offering with Brazilian-inspired small plates and cocktails.
The restaurant’s wine program has earned a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence, reflecting a carefully curated list that complements the bold flavors of the churrasco. Fogo de Chão even produces its own Founders Tribute Wine Collection, featuring South American reds like the Jorjão Reserva Malbec from Argentina, which pairs naturally with the Picanha, and the Eulila Red Blend from Chile, designed for the Lamb Picanha and savory cuts.
The first Fogo de Chão in the United States opened in Dallas, Texas, at the request of loyal American guests who had experienced the original restaurants in Brazil. The Dallas location on McKinney Avenue continues that pioneering spirit, offering a warm, energetic atmosphere where the tradition of churrasco is kept alive, every day.
