The story
Kamayan ATL started with a simple craving: Filipino food the way nanay (mother) used to make it. The family-run restaurant in Doraville’s Asian Square was born from a desire to see Filipino cuisine embraced in Atlanta, the place its owners now call home. When you walk in, it feels like eating at someone’s house — warm, unpretentious, and full of the aromas of a real kitchen. The restaurant has earned a Michelin Recommended distinction for 2023, 2024, and 2025, a testament to its steadfast commitment to authentic Filipino comfort food.
At the heart of the experience is the Kamayan-style feast — a traditional, hands-on spread that must be pre-booked as a private event. For regular lunch and dinner service, the menu reads like a greatest-hits collection of Filipino home cooking. Start with crispy Pork or Vegan Lumpia, then move to classics like Chicken Adobo — braised chicken with soy sauce, sugarcane vinegar, peppercorn, and bay leaves — or the deeply savory Lechon Kawali, sliced crispy pork belly. The Sizzling Lechon Sisig, a sizzling plate of slow-roasted pork belly, chopped cheek and snout with housemade liver pâté, is a standout. For something lighter, the Ginataang Talong offers an eggplant coconut curry that is both vegan and gluten-free.
Kamayan ATL is guided by the Filipino value of bayanihan — a spirit of communal unity and togetherness. The restaurant is dedicated to using high-quality, locally grown ingredients to bring the freshest, most comforting dishes to its guests. Whether you are Filipino or not, the goal is the same: to share the vibrant flavors and rich cultural heritage of the Philippines around a table. Walk-ins are always welcome, though reservations are highly recommended.
