The story
At The Row in downtown Los Angeles, Kato brings a refined, contemporary Asian perspective to the city’s dining scene. The restaurant occupies a sleek space inside Building 1, Suite 114, where the focus is on precision and ingredient-driven cooking.
The dining room tasting menu, priced at $325, changes with the seasons and emphasizes innovation. For those seeking a more relaxed introduction, the bar tasting menu offers a collection of classic Kato dishes at $185. Both menus can be paired with a Traditional Wine Flight ($145) or a Vintage Wine Flight ($185) that highlights rarity and age. An alcohol-free flight, created by the bar team, is also available.
Kato’s approach has earned it a Michelin star, a recognition of its high-quality cooking. The restaurant’s wine list is notably interesting, and the space is air-conditioned, wheelchair accessible, and offers parking.
Guests can book reservations for the dining room or bar from 5:00 to 8:30 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday. A corkage fee of $75 per 750ml bottle applies, with a two-bottle maximum. An 18% fair wage and operational fee is added to all bills to support comprehensive benefits and livable wages for the entire staff.
