The story
Seis Vecinos brings the vibrant, comforting flavors of Honduran and Mexican cuisine to Prospect Avenue. The name means “Six Neighbors,” a nod to the six Central American countries and Mexico that inspire the menu. What started as a small family-run spot in 2012 has since grown into a larger, newly renovated space in the heart of the South Bronx, where the team continues to serve hecha a mano dishes with warmth and pride.
The restaurant’s dedication to authentic Latin American cuisine earned it a Michelin Recommended distinction in 2026—a fitting recognition for a place that treats every guest like family.
The menu leans heavily on Honduran staples. Pupusas—thick, handmade corn tortillas stuffed with cheese, beans, or chicharrón—arrive hot and crisp. Baleadas, another Honduran classic, are flour tortillas folded around refried beans, crema, and your choice of protein. Tableside guacamole, prepared fresh to order, is a signature experience. These dishes are rooted in the owners’ own heritage: a family of Honduran and Mexican descent who grew up weaving the flavors of both cultures into every plate.
The setting is intimate and familial, with both indoor and outdoor seating. Big-screen TVs make it a natural gathering spot for World Cup matches and other soccer games—cold beers and summer cocktails in hand. Open daily from 10 a.m. to midnight, Seis Vecinos also serves breakfast and offers delivery and takeout for anyone craving pupusas from home.
It’s the kind of place where the staff knows regulars by name and the kitchen stays open late, because good food and good company shouldn’t have a curfew.
