The story
Hometown Barbecue Miami is the second location from Brooklyn restaurateur Billy Durney, bringing his signature style of authentic pit-smoked barbecue to the Allapattah neighborhood. Known for its dedication to traditional techniques, Hometown has earned its place on this curated index thanks to a Michelin Bib Gourmand award, a nod to its good quality, good value cooking.
The menu centers on meats smoked low and slow over wood, a craft that Durney honed in his original Red Hook location. In Miami, Hometown expands its repertoire with a wood-fired menu, featuring dishes cooked over live fire that showcase a different dimension of the kitchen’s skill. The bar complements the food with craft beers, seasonal cocktails, and a selection of wines by the glass and bottle, making it a natural spot for a full evening out.
Located at 1200 NW 22nd Street, the restaurant balances the casual, no-fuss feel of a barbecue joint with the polish of a destination dining room. Walk-ins are always welcome on a first-come basis, and reservations for dinner parties of two to ten are accepted starting at 5:00 PM. For those who prefer to enjoy this BBQ at home, delivery, takeaway, and catering are all available.
